  • Understanding the Two Main Branches of Science: Natural & Social Sciences
There are not really two subdivisions of science, but rather two broad categories:

    1. Natural Sciences: This category deals with the study of the natural world, including:

    * Physics: The study of matter and energy and their interactions.

    * Chemistry: The study of matter and its properties as well as how matter changes.

    * Biology: The study of living organisms and their interactions with the environment.

    * Astronomy: The study of celestial objects and phenomena.

    * Geology: The study of the Earth's physical structure, history, and processes.

    2. Social Sciences: This category deals with the study of human society and social interactions, including:

    * Psychology: The study of the mind and behavior.

    * Sociology: The study of human society and social interactions.

    * Anthropology: The study of human cultures and societies.

    * Economics: The study of how people make choices under scarcity.

    * Political Science: The study of government and political systems.

Within each of these categories, there are numerous subfields and specializations. It's important to note that there is often overlap between these two categories, and some fields like environmental science draw heavily on both natural and social sciences.
