    Motile bacteria move by means of flagella.

    Flagella are long, whip-like appendages that rotate to propel the bacteria through their environment. There are different arrangements of flagella, such as:

    * Monotrichous: One flagellum at one end.

    * Lophotrichous: A tuft of flagella at one end.

    * Amphitrichous: Flagella at both ends.

    * Peritrichous: Flagella all over the surface.
