  • Plant Cell Vacuoles: Structure, Function, and Digestive Role
The large vesicle that aids in digestion within plant cells is called a vacuole.

    Here's why:

    * Large Size: Vacuoles are the largest organelle in plant cells, often occupying up to 90% of the cell's volume.

    * Storage and Digestion: They store water, nutrients, and waste products, and play a role in breaking down cellular debris and other materials through enzymes they contain. This process is similar to lysosomes in animal cells.

While other organelles like lysosomes are involved in digestion in animal cells, the vacuole is the primary site of digestion in plant cells.
