  • Lysosomes in Plant Cells: Absence and Alternative Functions
Lysosomes are not found in plant cells.

    Here's why:

    * Plant cells have vacuoles: Plant cells have a large central vacuole that serves many of the functions of lysosomes, such as storage, waste degradation, and recycling.

    * Different mechanisms for degradation: Plant cells have other mechanisms for degrading cellular components, such as the vacuole and peroxisomes, which are specialized organelles with different functions.

While plant cells don't have lysosomes, they do have other organelles that perform similar functions.
