  • Plant vs. Animal Cells: Key Structural Differences Explained
    Plant cells have several key parts that distinguish them from animal cells:

    * Cell Wall: A rigid outer layer made of cellulose that provides structural support and protection. This is absent in animal cells.

    * Chloroplasts: Organelles containing chlorophyll, the green pigment responsible for photosynthesis. This is absent in animal cells.

    * Large Central Vacuole: A large, fluid-filled sac that stores water, nutrients, and waste products. While animal cells may have smaller vacuoles, the large central vacuole is unique to plant cells.

    * Plasmodesmata: Tiny channels that connect the cytoplasm of adjacent plant cells, allowing for communication and transport. These are not present in animal cells.

    These structures allow plants to perform unique functions, such as photosynthesis, and provide them with their characteristic rigid structure.
