  • Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER): Protein Transport to the Golgi Apparatus
The organelle that takes protein and moves it to the Golgi apparatus is the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), specifically the rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER).

    Here's why:

    * Protein Synthesis: Ribosomes, which are attached to the RER, are responsible for protein synthesis.

    * Folding and Modification: As proteins are synthesized, they enter the lumen (space within) of the RER, where they are folded into their correct 3D structures and often undergo initial modifications.

    * Transport Vesicles: The RER buds off transport vesicles containing the newly synthesized and modified proteins. These vesicles then travel to the Golgi apparatus.

The Golgi apparatus further processes, sorts, and packages proteins for their final destinations within the cell or for secretion outside the cell.
