  • Ribosomes: The Protein-Producing Powerhouses of Cells
The structure that produces proteins is the ribosome.

    Here's why:

    * Ribosomes are the cellular machinery responsible for translating the genetic code from messenger RNA (mRNA) into a chain of amino acids, which then folds into a functional protein.

    * DNA contains the instructions for making proteins, but it doesn't directly build them.

    * The nucleus is where DNA is stored and transcribed into mRNA.

    * The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is involved in protein folding and modification, but it doesn't synthesize them.

    * The Golgi apparatus further processes and packages proteins, but it doesn't create them.

Therefore, the ribosome is the crucial component for protein production.
