  • Codominance Explained: When Both Alleles Are Expressed
When neither allele for a trait is dominant, it's called codominance.

In codominance, both alleles are expressed equally in the phenotype. This means that the offspring will exhibit traits from both parents, rather than one masking the other.

A classic example is the ABO blood group system. A person with both the A and B alleles will have blood type AB, expressing both A and B antigens.
