  • What Are RNA Transcripts? Understanding Gene Expression
    Transcripts are RNA molecules.

    Here's why:

    * Transcription is the process of creating an RNA copy (the transcript) from a DNA template.

    * DNA contains the genetic code, but it is not directly used to make proteins.

    * RNA acts as an intermediary, carrying the genetic information from DNA to the ribosomes where proteins are synthesized.

So, the transcript is essentially a "working copy" of a gene made of RNA.
