  • DNA Location in Cells: Nucleus & Mitochondria Explained
DNA is located in the nucleus of the cell, except for a small amount of DNA that is also found in the mitochondria.

    Here's a breakdown:

    * Nucleus: The nucleus is like the control center of the cell, housing the majority of the cell's genetic material (DNA) in the form of chromosomes.

    * Mitochondria: These are organelles responsible for energy production within the cell. They have their own small amount of DNA, separate from the nuclear DNA, called mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA).

So, while most of the DNA is located in the nucleus, there's also a small but important amount found in the mitochondria.
