  • Interphase: The Cell's Growth and Preparation Phase
The period of a cell's life where it spends most of its time growing is called interphase.

Interphase is the longest stage of the cell cycle, where the cell grows, duplicates its organelles and DNA, and prepares for cell division.

    It's divided into three subphases:

    * G1 phase: The cell grows and synthesizes proteins and organelles.

    * S phase: The cell replicates its DNA.

    * G2 phase: The cell continues to grow and prepares for mitosis or meiosis.

After interphase, the cell enters the M phase, which includes mitosis or meiosis, where the cell divides into two or four daughter cells.
