  • Plasma Membrane: Structure of Epithelial Cells in the Inner Cheek
The structure at the edge of the cytoplasm of epithelial cells taken from your inner cheek is called the plasma membrane.

    Here's why:

    * Epithelial cells are the cells that line the surfaces of your body, including your inner cheek.

    * Cytoplasm is the jelly-like substance that fills the interior of a cell.

    * The plasma membrane is a thin, flexible barrier that encloses the cytoplasm and separates the cell's internal environment from the external environment. It acts as a gatekeeper, controlling what enters and leaves the cell.

While other structures might be found near the edge of the cytoplasm, the plasma membrane is the defining structure that directly borders the cytoplasm.
