  • Chloroplasts: The Site of Photosynthesis in Plant Cells
The part of the cell that contains chlorophyll is called the chloroplast.

Chloroplasts are organelles found in plant cells and some algae. They are responsible for photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of sugars. Chlorophyll, the green pigment that absorbs light energy, is contained within the chloroplast.
