  • Vascular Tissue in Plants: Structure & Function
The tissue that moves water and nutrients through a plant is called vascular tissue.

There are two main types of vascular tissue:

    * Xylem: This tissue transports water and dissolved minerals upwards from the roots to the rest of the plant. It's made up of dead cells that form hollow tubes.

    * Phloem: This tissue carries sugars (produced through photosynthesis) from the leaves to other parts of the plant where they are needed for growth and energy. It is made up of living cells with specialized structures for transport.

Together, xylem and phloem form a complex network that efficiently transports vital substances throughout the plant.
