  • Photosynthesis: How Plants Store Energy as Glucose and Starch
The main product of photosynthesis that is stored in plants is glucose.

    Here's why:

    * Photosynthesis converts light energy into chemical energy: Plants use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to create glucose (a sugar) and oxygen.

    * Glucose is a source of energy: Plants use glucose for growth, repair, and other metabolic processes.

    * Excess glucose is stored: When a plant produces more glucose than it needs immediately, it stores it in the form of starch. Starch is a complex carbohydrate that can be easily broken down into glucose when needed.

So, while photosynthesis produces both glucose and oxygen, glucose is the primary product that is stored for later use by the plant.
