  • Photosynthesis: How Plants Create Food (Glucose)
Plants make glucose as their food.

They do this through a process called photosynthesis. Here's a simplified breakdown:

    1. Sunlight: Plants capture energy from sunlight using a green pigment called chlorophyll.

    2. Carbon Dioxide: They absorb carbon dioxide from the air through tiny openings called stomata on their leaves.

    3. Water: They absorb water from the ground through their roots.

    4. Chemical Reaction: Using the energy from sunlight, plants combine carbon dioxide and water to create glucose (a type of sugar) and oxygen.

The glucose provides the plant with energy for growth, repair, and other functions. The oxygen is released back into the atmosphere.
