  • Photosynthesis: Essential Ingredients for Plant Growth
The two things a plant must take in for photosynthesis are:

    1. Carbon dioxide (CO2): This is absorbed from the air through tiny pores called stomata on the leaves. Carbon dioxide provides the carbon atoms needed to build the sugars that fuel the plant.

    2. Water (H2O): This is absorbed from the soil through the roots. Water provides the hydrogen atoms needed for the sugars and also plays a role in transporting nutrients and facilitating chemical reactions within the plant.
