  • Apes: A Comprehensive Guide to Great and Lesser Apes
    Apes are a group of primates that are further divided into two families:

    Hominidae (Great Apes):

    * Humans (Homo sapiens)

    * Chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes)

    * Bonobos (Pan paniscus)

    * Gorillas (Gorilla gorilla)

    * Orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus)

    Hylobatidae (Lesser Apes):

    * Gibbons (Hylobates spp.)

    * Siamangs (Symphalangus syndactylus)

    It's important to note that monkeys are not classified as apes. While both are primates, apes are distinguished by a lack of a tail, a more complex brain, and certain skeletal adaptations.
