  • Organ Systems Collaboration: Understanding Organisms
    Many organ systems working together are called an organism.

    An organism is a complete living being that can carry out all the processes necessary for life, such as:

    * Nutrition: Obtaining and processing food

    * Respiration: Taking in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide

    * Circulation: Transporting nutrients and waste

    * Excretion: Removing waste products

    * Movement: Changing position or location

    * Reproduction: Creating new organisms

    * Growth: Increasing in size and complexity

    * Response: Reacting to stimuli in the environment

    Each organ system contributes its own unique function, and their coordinated efforts make life possible.
