  • Protein Synthesis: Where and How Proteins Are Made
Proteins are not made inside the nucleus. Proteins are made in the cytoplasm, specifically on structures called ribosomes. Here's how it works:

    * DNA in the nucleus contains the genetic code for making proteins.

    * This code is transcribed into messenger RNA (mRNA).

    * The mRNA travels out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm.

    * Ribosomes in the cytoplasm bind to the mRNA and use the code to assemble amino acids into protein chains.

So, while the nucleus houses the blueprint for protein synthesis, the actual construction process happens outside the nucleus in the cytoplasm.
