  • G0 Phase: Understanding the Dormant State of Specialized Cells
    Specialized cells remain in the G0 phase of the cell cycle.

    Here's why:

    * G0 phase is a quiescent state where cells are metabolically active but not actively dividing.

    * Specialized cells have already differentiated and perform specific functions within the body.

    * Continuous division would disrupt the structure and function of tissues.

    While some specialized cells can re-enter the cell cycle for repair or regeneration, the majority remain in G0 to maintain their specialized function.
