* Benign means non-cancerous. These tumors are generally slow-growing and encapsulated, meaning they have a distinct border and are contained within a surrounding membrane.
* Normal parent tissue refers to the tissue from which the tumor originated. Benign tumors often retain the normal characteristics of the parent tissue, including the arrangement of cells and their functions.
In contrast, malignant tumors (cancers) are less likely to resemble normal tissue and can invade surrounding tissues. They can also spread to other parts of the body (metastasize).
