  • Cell Walls vs. Cell Membranes: Understanding Cellular Support
    The structure that surrounds the cell and provides support is the cell wall.

    While this is true for plant cells, bacteria, fungi, and some protists, animal cells do not have a cell wall. Instead, they have a cell membrane which provides structural support and regulates what enters and leaves the cell.
