    The cell theory is not something that can be "changed" into a law. This is because the terms "theory" and "law" have distinct meanings in science:

It is supported by a large body of evidence and provides a framework for understanding and predicting phenomena. Examples include the theory of evolution and the germ theory of disease.

    Why the cell theory is not a law:

    * Explanatory power: The cell theory doesn't simply describe a pattern; it explains the fundamental basis of life. It states that all living things are composed of cells and that all cells arise from pre-existing cells. This explanation has been supported by a massive amount of evidence and is considered a foundational principle in biology.

    * Evolving understanding: While the core principles of the cell theory remain robust, scientific understanding of cells is constantly expanding. We're constantly learning new details about cellular structures, functions, and processes. A law wouldn't be able to accommodate this continuous evolution of knowledge.

    Instead of "changing" it, the cell theory has been refined and expanded over time.

    For example, the original cell theory stated that all living things are composed of cells. This was later expanded to include the concept that all cells arise from pre-existing cells. This demonstrates how scientific understanding can build upon existing theories, making them more comprehensive.

    In essence, the cell theory is a powerful explanation that has stood the test of time, making it a cornerstone of biology. It's not a "law" in the scientific sense, but its importance and influence are undeniable.
