  • Are Plants Living or Nonliving? Understanding Plant Biology
    Plants are living organisms and not nonliving.

    It's important to remember that plants have all the characteristics of life:

    * Organization: They are made up of cells, tissues, and organs.

    * Metabolism: They carry out chemical reactions to obtain energy and grow.

    * Growth and Development: They increase in size and complexity over time.

    * Response to stimuli: They react to changes in their environment (e.g., light, water).

    * Reproduction: They produce offspring.

    * Adaptation: They evolve over time to better suit their environment.

    There are no plant types that are nonliving. While things like wood or leaves are derived from plants, they are no longer living.
