    * Fix nitrogen: Nitrogen-fixing bacteria, like those in the genus *Rhizobium*, live in nodules on the roots of legumes (e.g., peas, beans, alfalfa). They convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form usable by plants, which is essential for growth.

    * Promote plant growth: Other bacteria can help plants grow by providing nutrients, increasing nutrient uptake, or protecting them from pathogens. These bacteria may be found in the soil or on the plant surface.

    These are just two examples, and the complex relationship between bacteria and plants is still being studied. Bacteria can have a significant impact on plant health, both negatively and positively.
