  • Understanding Organ Systems: Definition & Examples
A group of interdependent organs with similar function is called a system.

    For example:

    * Digestive system: This system is responsible for breaking down food and absorbing nutrients. It includes organs like the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas.

    * Circulatory system: This system transports blood throughout the body, delivering oxygen and nutrients and removing waste products. It includes the heart, blood vessels, and blood.

    * Nervous system: This system controls and coordinates all bodily functions, including movement, sensation, thought, and emotion. It includes the brain, spinal cord, and nerves.

There are many other systems in the human body, each with its own specific function and set of organs.
