  • Robert Brown: The Scientist Who Discovered the Nucleus
The discovery of the nucleus in animal cells is attributed to Robert Brown.

While other scientists had observed similar structures in plant cells before, Brown is credited with formally identifying and naming the nucleus in 1831 during his studies of orchids. He described it as a "round or oval body" within the cell and noted its presence in a variety of plant tissues.

However, it was Rudolf Virchow who later built upon Brown's observations and proposed the theory of cell division and the role of the nucleus in heredity.
