  • Carl Linnaeus: The Father of Taxonomy & Biological Classification
The father of taxonomy is widely considered to be Carl Linnaeus.

He was a Swedish botanist, physician, and zoologist who developed a system for classifying organisms that is still in use today. His work, Systema Naturae, established a hierarchical system for classifying living things based on shared characteristics. He introduced the binomial nomenclature system, which uses a genus and species name to identify each organism (like *Homo sapiens* for humans).

While other scientists contributed to the development of taxonomy before Linnaeus, his system provided a framework that was widely adopted and is still the foundation of modern taxonomy.
