  • The Four Essential Macronutrients: Fueling Your Body
The four basic units derived from food are not units in the traditional sense of measurement (like meters or grams). Instead, they refer to the four main macronutrients our bodies need from food:

    1. Carbohydrates: Provide energy for our bodies, primarily in the form of glucose.

    2. Proteins: Build and repair tissues, produce enzymes, and support many bodily functions.

    3. Fats (Lipids): Provide energy, insulate organs, and help absorb vitamins.

    4. Water: Essential for all bodily functions, including hydration, temperature regulation, and nutrient transport.

While not technically "units," these macronutrients are fundamental building blocks for our bodies and are obtained from the foods we eat.
