  • Robert Hooke: The Father of Cell Biology - Discovery and Micrographia
The British scientist who first observed cells under a microscope was Robert Hooke.

In 1665, he published his observations in his book "Micrographia," where he described the structure of cork as being made up of small compartments he called "cells" because they reminded him of the cells in a monastery. While he wasn't the first person to use a microscope, his detailed observations and publication were crucial in establishing the groundwork for the study of cells.
