  • Glycogen Storage: Liver & Muscle - Where is it Found?
Most of the glycogen in the human body is found in the liver and skeletal muscles.

    * Liver glycogen serves as a glucose reservoir for the entire body, especially when blood sugar levels are low.

    * Muscle glycogen is primarily used for energy during muscular activity.

While smaller amounts of glycogen can be found in other tissues, the liver and muscles contain the majority.
