  • Throat Anatomy & Function: Respiratory & Digestive Systems
    The throat, also known as the pharynx, is part of two body systems:

    * The Respiratory System: The throat is the passageway for air as it travels from the nose and mouth to the lungs.

    * The Digestive System: The throat also carries food from the mouth to the esophagus, which then leads to the stomach.

    So, while the throat serves a vital role in both systems, it's not exclusive to either one.
