  • Matthias Schleiden: The Father of Cell Theory in Botany
The botanist who concluded that all plants are composed of cells was Matthias Schleiden.

He published his findings in 1838, along with Theodor Schwann who made the same conclusion about animals. Together, their work laid the foundation for the cell theory, which states that all living organisms are composed of cells and that cells are the basic unit of life.
