    Multicellular life forms first appeared in the fossil record about 570 million years ago during the Ediacaran Period. This period marks the beginning of the Neoproterozoic Era.

    These early multicellular organisms were quite simple and unlike anything we see today. They were primarily soft-bodied, with limited complexity and lacked the distinct organs or tissues found in modern animals and plants.
