  • Protein Synthesis: How Ribosomes Build Proteins
The ribosome is a large, complex molecular machine found in the cytoplasm of cells. It is composed of two subunits made up of ribosomal RNA (rRNA) and proteins. The ribosome synthesizes proteins by reading the sequence of nucleotides in messenger RNA (mRNA) and using this information to assemble amino acids into a polypeptide chain. This process is known as protein synthesis or translation.
