  • Anatomy of the Outer Ear: Pinna, Ear Canal & Eardrum
    1. Pinna, also known as the auricle, is the visible part of the outer ear. It is composed of a thin layer of skin and cartilage and helps funnel sound waves into the ear canal.

    2. Ear canal, also known as the external acoustic meatus, is a tube-like structure that connects the pinna to the middle ear. It is lined with skin and ceruminous glands, which produce earwax to protect the ear from dirt, dust, and other foreign objects.

    3. Tympanic membrane, also known as the eardrum, is a thin, flexible membrane that separates the ear canal from the middle ear. It vibrates when sound waves hit it, which sends sound signals to the middle ear.
