  • Anatomy: Exploring the Structure of Living Organisms | Biology Basics
Anatomy is a biological science concerned with the study of the structure of organisms and their component parts. Anatomy, along with physiology the study of the function of those parts, are considered to be the foundational or basic sciences of biology.

Microscopic Anatomy or Histology deals with the structure and cellular composition of tissues and internal organs.

Comparative anatomy, also known as comparative morphology, studies the anatomy of different organisms in order to identify similarities and differences between species and understand evolutionary relationships. Comparative anatomy can be applied to any organism, but it is most commonly studied in animals.

Developmental anatomy also known as embryology, examines how the anatomy of an organism changes throughout its life cycle, from conception to adulthood. Developmental anatomy can be studied in both plants and animals.
