  • Cellulose: The Structural Component Unique to Plant Cells
    The compound which is found in the outer layer of plant cells but NOT in animal cells is Cellulose. Composed of glucose units, it is a polysaccharide that forms the primary structural component of plant cell walls, providing strength and rigidity to the plant. In contrast, animal cells do not possess a cell wall but have a cell membrane instead.
