  • Stems: Function & Support for Plant Growth | [Your Brand/Website]
The two main functions of stems are:

    1. Structural Support: Stems provide physical support to the plant body, anchoring it in the soil and allowing it to grow upright. They support the weight of the leaves, flowers, fruits, and other plant structures.

    2. Transport of Substances: Stems act as conduits for transporting various substances throughout the plant. They carry water and minerals absorbed by the roots from the soil up to the leaves through xylem vessels.

Stems also transport sugars produced during photosynthesis in leaves to other parts like flowers and roots through phloem vessels.
