When the DNA in a cell is uncoiled and spread throughout nucleus it is called
chromatin. Chromatin is a complex of DNA and proteins that makes up the chromosomes in a cell. It is found in the nucleus of all eukaryotic cells, and it contains all of the cell's genetic information. Chromatin is made up of two types of proteins: histones and non-histones. Histones are small, basic proteins that help to package the DNA into a compact form. Non-histones are a more diverse group of proteins that play a variety of roles in the regulation of gene expression, DNA replication and DNA repair.
