The cytoplasm of a cell is a jelly-like fluid enclosed by the cell membrane. Cytoplasm contains all of the molecules, structures and small structures (organelles) that are in the cell, in addition to water and salts. The amount of water inside the cell is about 70% and the remainder components take about 30%. These main three main components are:
1. Cytosol, water containing some salt and molecules.
2. Organelles, small membrane bound structures that perform the different biochemical functions of the cells.
3. Structural Elements or Inclusions, that help support the cell and carry out different activities.
