  • Plant Cell Organelles: Chloroplasts & Cell Walls - Structure & Function
Two organelles found only in plant cells are chloroplasts and cell walls.

    Chloroplasts:

    - Contain chlorophyll, a green pigment that absorbs light energy from the sun.

    - Use the light energy to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose through photosynthesis.

    - Are essential for the production of food for the plant.

    Cell Walls:

    - Are rigid structures that surround the cell membrane.

    - Provide support and protection for the plant cell.

    - Help maintain the cell's shape and prevent it from bursting.

    - Are made up of cellulose, a complex carbohydrate.
