  • Protostomes: Understanding the Early Development of Animals
    Protosomes (Protostomia)

A group of animals in which the opening (blastopore) formed during early embryonic development gives rise to the mouth, rather than the anus. Protostomes include flatworms, roundworms, segmented worms, molluscs, and arthropods. Some protostomes have a closed circulatory system, while others have an open circulatory system.
