  • Irreversible Yeast Fermentation: Understanding the Process
Yeast fermentation is an irreversible process.

During yeast fermentation, glucose is converted into ethanol and carbon dioxide. Once these products are formed, they cannot be converted back into glucose through the same biochemical pathway. Additionally, the breakdown of glucose leads to the generation of energy in the form of ATP, which is also an irreversible process. Therefore, yeast fermentation is considered an irreversible process.
