  • Cat Care: Exploring Cultural Perspectives on Feline Welfare
It is not true that people everywhere care less about their cats than dogs. In fact, in some cultures, cats are considered to be sacred animals and are treated with great respect and care. For example, in ancient Egypt, cats were revered as gods and were often mummified after they died. In modern Japan, cats are seen as symbols of good luck and are often kept as pets in homes and businesses. Additionally, there are many organizations and individuals dedicated to the welfare of cats, such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Alley Cat Allies, which work to protect cats from abuse and neglect and to promote their well-being.
