Yawning is a contagious behaviour; however, sneezing is not thought to be contagious in the same way. Yawning is triggered by the activation of the mirror neuron system, which allows us to mimic the actions and emotions of others, while sneezing is a reflex response to irritation or infection of the nasal passages.
