Baboons are capable of a variety of higher-level cognitive tasks, including:
* Tool use: Baboons have been observed using tools in a variety of ways, such as to dig for food, to break open nuts, and to defend themselves from predators.
* Problem-solving: Baboons are able to solve a variety of problems, such as how to get food from a hard-to-reach place or how to escape from a trap.
* Social learning: Baboons learn from each other by observing and imitating each other's behavior. This allows them to acquire new skills and knowledge without having to learn everything through trial and error.
* Communication: Baboons use a variety of vocalizations, gestures, and facial expressions to communicate with each other. This allows them to share information about food, predators, and other important things in their environment.
Pigeons
Pigeons are also capable of a variety of higher-level cognitive tasks, including:
* Navigation: Pigeons have a remarkable sense of direction and are able to navigate long distances without getting lost.
* Memory: Pigeons have a very good memory and are able to remember information for long periods of time.
* Categorization: Pigeons are able to categorize objects into different groups, such as food and non-food, or people and animals.
* Discrimination: Pigeons are able to discriminate between different objects, such as different colors or shapes.
These are just a few examples of the many higher-level cognitive tasks that baboons and pigeons are capable of. These animals are much more intelligent than we often give them credit for.
