  • Queen Bee Egg Consumption: Understanding Hive Dynamics
Queen bees typically do not eat their worker bees' eggs. Worker bees are the primary caretakers of the hive and are responsible for laying and caring for the eggs. The queen's role is to lay eggs and maintain social order within the colony. Worker bees may remove, relocate, or consume unfertilized eggs (drones) or damaged or diseased eggs to maintain the health of the hive. While rare, some abnormal circumstances can lead to a queen eating her worker bees' eggs, such as in cases of extreme stress or queen dysfunction.
