Traditionally, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields have been male-dominated. For several years, there has been an underrepresentation of women in STEM careers. Various factors contributing to gender segregation include cultural gender stereotypes, societal biases, educational practices, lack of female mentors, and work-life balance challenges. Efforts are ongoing to encourage and support more girls and women to pursue STEM education and careers.
